At least he would have kept Elizabeth in the parlor, so that guests could admire the pretty colours fractaled through her wings, the parlor would be warm, there would be light, light that would fade her colour, but light nonetheless. At least the butterfly’s jar was a thing of beauty, at least the panes were of glass and so it could still sense the sun.
