Summary
Initially written for 4chan and redone and reedited for Ao3, A Tale of Rust and Flesh is a horror fiction starring Kris and Susie two months after the events of Deltarune Chapter 1.
Kris has done it. Initially wanting something greater out of a few secret deals he's made, the lone human of Hometown backed out and regained control. The adventure was nice, but it wasn't worth it in Kris' mind. Now, he has his best friend at his side and someone to connect with, but the Dark World never left said friend's mind and she never stopped searching for it again.
One day, Susie comes up with the brilliant idea of searching the double doors on the southernmost side of town and drags Kris along. Not knowing what the two of them are in for, they unwittingly make a descent into their innermost inferno and Susie gets that second adventure she's been waiting for.

Summary
The world is mostly the same as it ever was in one timeline, but there was a difference. With only one little tweak, a monster girl named Susie was instead born as a monster boy named Sam. The story follows Sam as he struggles to cope with addiction, loneliness, poverty, starvation, the confusing journey of growing up, and his mother.
