Lucilfer was finally leaving when Neon suddenly collapsed next to him. Kurapika reached over to nudge her, maybe check her pulse, but she suddenly shot up to a sitting position and grabbed his wrist.
He pulled, but her grip was unrelenting. Her usually bright eyes had gone entirely blank.
“The angel and demon are united by death. Heaven and Hell become trapped in a fatal dance. With fates chained together, each holds both lives in their hands.”
The words didn’t sound they they had come from Neon, but from some kind of monster, and as soon as she had uttered them, she collapsed once more.
This time, Kurapika didn’t even attempt to free his arm. He simply stared, unaware that behind him, Lucilfer was stuck in the same uncertain trance.
