A new day, another day of Gold's newfound routine. Head down to the lab, sit and talk with Silver (and his seniors, but Silver was the main reason he was there) until the lab closed, then go home, and repeat the next day. Another day of the routine he’s been following for the past three months, hoping that one day would be different.
But today was different, just not in the way he hoped. As he looked at Silver, raking his eyes over him, he couldn’t help but… want to kiss him. It would just be one small kiss. And it would help Gold figure out these feelings he’s been having towards him.
Besides, it’s not like Silver would ever know.

Goh sucked in a surprised breath at the question, the Butterfrees in his stomach growing into something all-consuming, gigantimaxed and lodging into his throat. His entire body was humming with anticipation, a desperation for this to be real so fucking big that he felt like he was bursting at the seams.
Goh had always assumed the touches between them while they were on journeys were unintentional, that they were something to ignore, to shove out of his mind as inconsequential and meaningless, but could he have been wrong? Could that have been nothing more than his own self-preservation? He always wanted Ash to touch him, could feel the phantom graze of his hands against his skin every time he lay alone, every time he stepped into the shower and thought about Ash.
He wanted Ash, and maybe that was okay — maybe that was something he could have, if Ash was offering it.

Before they've reached the main gates into the festival, the sound of laughter, excited children, and the smell of a crisp fall breeze, combined with just a hint of pumpkin spice and freshly baked cinnamon apples is noticeable in the air. The excitement is almost contagious, and Gold finds himself bouncing along the sidewalk, tugging on the hand he keeps intertwined with Silver's to pull him towards the festival.
They'll get there no matter what, but now that it's within sight, and the smells and sounds of a childhood tradition come rushing back to him, he's eager to get into the fairgrounds, and show Silver what a proper Halloween festival looks like.
