Aventurine’s love was a curse– everyone he’d ever loved had died and it had been because of him. He couldn’t love Ratio because loving Ratio would only condemn him to his death. If loving Ratio meant losing him forever, then Aventurine would do everything in his power to lock away any semblance of the feeling and bury it deep in his heart where it could remain untouched for eternity.

Astarion was snapped back to the present, surprised face meeting Halsin’s kind eyes. The giant of an elf was standing now, shoulders squared with Astarion’s. “It’s not possible.” Astarion said at last.
“I didn’t ask if it was possible. I asked if you would like to experience it.” Halsin stood before him, determined to pull an honest answer from the vampire’s lips.
