Was she misreading this? Maybe Mira hadn’t meant to activate whatever the hell this was inside her. It wasn’t Mira’s fault that every time anyone touched her she lit up like a Christmas tree and her brain stopped functioning.
This was just perfectly normal platonic touching because she’d looked nervous and Mira had wanted to calm her down a little, obviously, that was why she was looking at her like that and leaning in until their lips were half an inch apart and saying something, her lips were moving and Rumi was watching them move because they were gorgeous and they were right there.

Rumi is very touch-starved, Mira is into it, Rumi cannot believe anyone could ever want her.

The room quiet, but everything overwhelming. The dread, that unbearable sort of despair lingered, sat tightly into his chest and ate him from within. Because no matter what his father had told him, no matter how he was aware of the harsh realities of Slugterra, nothing could have prepared him for the moment that his friend, who he loved dearly, so dearly, would be lying into his arms, asking him if she was dying. And that he'd be helpless, the ground beneath his feet disappearing as she slipped into unconsciousness, as life seemed to gradually surrender from her features.

Summary
"Come on, demon scum,” Zoey bounces on the balls of her feet. practically vibrating as she shifts from side to side and wipes the blood from beneath her nose. Her smile is sharp. just as clear as it was an hour ago when they had started. “You call that a hit?”
Or. Rumi clutches her hands to her sides, letting her claws dig into her palm. Celine watches her with a softening expression, taking a breath before letting it out.
“Oh Rumi” she says, cupping her cheek, the warmth of her palm sinking into her skin.
“Don’t ruin these young girls' lives. Leave them alone. They have a whole world ahead of them” Celine pulls away and heads for the door but at the last moment she turns to look back at her, “don’t let your selfishness be the thing that kills them”
or. What if Celine hadn't turned Rumi into a hunter? what if she had seen the abomination of a child that had been left to her and thought she might as well turn her into something useful.
and then set off to find the next generation of hunters.

“Celine gave me that recipe,” Rumi mutters quietly, looking down into her mug and cradling it close. “When I was a lot younger.”
Mira and Zoey both turn around.
“It’s my favorite.” Rumi smiles wryly. “Or was. I haven’t had it in a while.”
“I bet it’s going to taste so good,” Zoey giggles, disentangling herself from Mira to step closer towards Rumi. Zoey takes her mug and sets it on the countertop, Rumi’s arms inevitably find their way around Zoey’s waist. She leans up to kiss Rumi—soft, firm. Grounding.
Just what she needed, because Mira presses ever onwards. “Have you two spoken lately?”
“Not at all,” Rumi admits. “We haven’t—I haven’t—”
She hasn’t figured it out yet. It’s all so nebulous and confusing, the gargantuan complexity of how Celine makes her feel. Or, how Celine feels about her. The bridge between them feels frail and tenuous—if it’s even still there at all—and crossing it feels scary. Terrifying.
And yet,
“I missed her today.”
[OR: Rumi cooks an old recipe for Zoey & Mira, and realizes something very important along the way.]
