Satine nodded and she admitted shamelessly and with abandon, “My paradise is to lie in the meadow with you among the flowers.”
Obi-Wan frowned as he reached for her face, murmuring, “No, cyar’ika. You are not ordinary."
She scowled in opposition to his words. “What am I, then?”
A smile crossed his lips and he answered, “You are many things, so many that I cannot name them in my weary state, but ordinary is not one of them. You could never be sent to the fields of asphodels, not when Elysium welcomes the virtuous like you."
Stubbornly, she said, “I would not go to a place that did not recognize your honor. If you could not go, then neither would I.”
“You would be foolish then, but maybe you would finally be mine,” he whispered.
When Duchess Satine is suspected of forming an army for the Separatists, Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi is sent to Mandalore to investigate, and despite being committed to the lie that they are friends and nothing more, they have been in love for nearly twenty years. When the events of the Clone Wars drive them to admit their feelings, they must decide whether duty still comes before love.

Duke Adon Kryze was murdered when Satine was just a girl- now she is a woman, and ready to claim justice for his death, and for the people of Mandalore. But Death watch will not rest until they ensure their dream of "pure" Mandalorian hegemony is asserted, throwing Satine's life, and the lives of her people, into peril. He straightened up and gestured beside him, bowing slightly. “Your accommodations await, Duchess.”
“Not just a peacekeeper but a survivalist too,” she said, crawling gracefully under the snow-covered overhang and sighing as she sat down. She shivered again and pulled her robe tighter around her.
Obi-Wan crawled in after her, dragging the second deflated pod behind him with rapidly numbing fingers. “The snow should insulate us well enough from below. We can wrap this around ourselves to trap the air. I’m afraid we’ll have to lie close together to conserve warmth.”
“Afraid, are you?”
Her tone of voice was dangerous. He cleared his throat. “That’s one word for it.”
