After thirteen years in the Burial Mounds, the Yiling Patriarch finally makes a public reappearance. Civilians are scared. Cultivators are outraged. Sect Leaders are concerned. Wei Wuxian has been too quiet, they say, and nobody knows what dark horrors the Burial Mounds may now contain.
Wei Wuxian wouldn't quite call them dark horrors, but the description wasn't too far off.
(tl;dr Wei Wuxian lives, raises a whole gaggle of demonic cultivator children, and the cultivation world panics.)

Wei Wuxian took his hand, gently pressing it over his bump. “Lan Zhan, trust me.”
Ever since he felt the baby kicking that first time, Lan Wangji had become less hesitant to touch Wei Wuxian. Many nights now he rested his palms over Wei Wuxian’s belly and rubbed over it tenderly, both of them delighting when the pup would respond with little movements. It had been a little embarrassing for Wei Wuxian at first, but he now treasured such moments and looked forward to Lan Wangji’s strong, gentle touch that made his chest rumble pleasantly with purrs.
Lan Wangji’s thumb rubbed tenderly over the bump. He finally exhaled. “I trust Wei Ying.”

Summary
Lan WangJi knew well that he had fallen in love with a stubborn man.
It was stubbornness with which Wei Ying pursued his friendship in the Cloud Recesses all those years ago, despite constant rebuffs. It was stubbornness with which he clawed his way from the Burial Mounds the first time. And now, meeting Wei Ying in Yiling, child in his arms, he realized: it was the same stubbornness which persuaded him to go back into the Burial Mounds the second time.
Wei Ying, his path once chosen, would never waver from it. All Lan WangJi could do then, was choose to walk beside him.
(Never let it be said that Lan WangJi was any less stubborn than the object of his affections.)
