“Okay, okay—you’re okay, sorry, I didn’t mean to freak you out. I’ll leave it alone.”
He gasps for air, dizzy with the strain of moving and the adrenaline saturating his blood. Beidou’s hands leave his forearms, but then her arms come around his shoulders again and he’s drawn against her. He feels her lungs as she breathes. He hears the lump in her throat when she swallows.
“You’re okay,” she says, her words small. “Shit, you’re okay. You’re okay, Kazuha, you’re okay.”
Terrible things. Gentle things.

Summary
Vodyanitsa hates liars. She doesn't hate people who come to the shows for Odette, she doesn't hate people who don't necessarily find her singing beautiful. She hates liars. She hates people who promise things they don't mean.
Mitya has been lying.
That's what she believes.
But time and time again he's never been able to name a single song, calls himself a fan but doesn't show up even when a ticket reaches his desk personally.
She hates people who say they adore her and her voice but have nothing to show for it.
Mitya hates being told how to do his job. He also hates when he's told to take a break.
Above all else, he hates the nightmares.

This information comes as a surprise to her. “Mr. Dmitry is skipping work?”
“Not just skipping work,” Alyosha says. “Apparently his bodyguard is the one who reported his absence, on the account of…” he counts off on his fingers. “...a variety of symptoms, including but not limited to fever, dizziness, chills, coughing, and sneezing.”
Realization dawns on her. “So he didn’t skip the performance on purpose,” she says. “He was ill.”
Or: Mitya misses a performance. Vodyanitsa shows up at his flat to figure out what exactly is going on with him.
