Eddie wonders if this is the usual Steve Harrington treatment. If the girls who came before him have laid in this spot, been kissed up and down both sides of their neck before finally getting one on the mouth. If those girls giggled their way through small talk first, or came right up here for the main event.
He hopes not. He hopes that maybe he's different. He hopes that he and Steve have skipped the small talk simply because there's no more small talk left. That the weeks of small talk in the beginning, followed by months of far bigger talk, eliminated the need for whatever shallow conversations typically prelude this part.
