4. As of today, May 1st, 1986, Hawkins is under official quarantine. No one is allowed in or out until further notice, and that includes people who are enrolled in university for the fall. They were all ordered to defer until further notice, and were given official documents to supply to their schools to ensure their acceptance decisions aren't affected.
Number four is what brings Nancy here, pacing around her room and trying not to throw things out the window. Naturally, the entire senior class went into uproar at this decision, screaming at the military and the teachers over the injustice of it all. The entire school left for the day after that. Nancy stormed upstairs immediately after she got home, ignoring Jonathan's asks about how she's feeling and leaving him at the bottom of the stairs.
the military announces the official shutdown of hawkins, mike recruits nancy to help him make a new map of the town, and nancy tries to process the future imploding before her very eyes.
