Aziraphale doesn't want to think about home. So he pictures the crystal clear turquoise water surrounding him. The islands in the distance that he hopes to see up close soon. He thinks about the fish he watched dart along the length of the hull and the candy floss pink clouds framing the setting sun. He tries to remember what it was like to see the world as a wonderful thing to explore instead of a gray box he lives in.

Summary
It was their shared dream to stand together on the Olympic podium, as figure skaters, rivals, best friends. But a twist of fate has Aziraphale and Crowley pursuing different paths, the former as a Singles skater and the other an Ice Dancer.
It wouldn’t be so terrible, Aziraphale thinks, if he didn’t have to watch Crowley skate with someone else day after day. Someone that isn’t him, and to know he’ll never get to be with Crowley like that, in front of the whole world.

Summary
There was nothing more beautiful than the sun rising over the plains. Dawn bled like a cup of coffee spilling over the morning paper, arresting Crowley’s attention. He’d always pause his chores to mark the progression from grey to blue and brilliant orange, moving like a curtain up over a stage. As a child he’d believed God must have painted the sky over the stars each day, but the farmer had long since abandoned both faith and imagination. Instead he relied on more tangible tools, the ones that could reign in 160 acres of the Great American Desert. His homestead was his Eden and he fit it to his own design.
My take on the farmer/librarian trope (can't get enough of it), set in 1895 or thereabouts.
