The silence that answers him is loud. Eddie must look like he’s on the verge of another panic attack like he feels like he is, because Buck makes a point to grab his hand and interlace their fingers. It grounds Eddie long enough to catch his breath until they’re rounding the office and they see Chris sitting outside.
“Christopher,” he breathes, rushing over to his son, “are you okay?! What happened?!” He gives Chris a twiceover. There are no visible cuts or injuries, and he doesn’t seem to be distressed like his dad. Actually, the contrary: He’s laughing.
“It’s okay, Dad,” Chris reassures, “you should see the other guy.”
