In this alternate universe, the Waynes chose to leave Gotham behind, moving to Smallville to give their son, Bruce, a quieter, safer upbringing. Growing up surrounded by open skies and honest work, Bruce developed a sharp mind and a passion for uncovering the truth, leading him to a career as a celebrated investigative reporter.
Far across the sea, Kal-El’s ship landed on Themyscira, where he was raised by the Amazons to embody their ideals of strength, wisdom, and compassion. When Kal-El ventured into the world of men, he quickly became known as Superman, a symbol of hope and justice.
Their lives collided when Superman saved Bruce, sparking a connection neither expected. Since then, they’ve met monthly on the roof of the Daily Planet, sharing stories of their worlds and learning from one another. Over time, their camaraderie has deepened into a quiet yearning neither is sure how to voice.
On New Year’s Eve, under a sky alive with fireworks, Bruce and Kal-El meet again, this time on the cusp of a new beginning. As the clock ticks toward midnight, they must decide if they’re ready to take a leap of faith and explore the feelings they’ve kept hidden for so long.

“Why is that a problem?” Jason asked perched on the arm of his own couch since all the cushions had been commandeered by sibling intruders. “Happy Bruce is good right?”
“Because,” Dick groaned, rolling his eyes like he couldn’t believe he had to explain this. “He’s in love with Harold. And Harold….is in love with Brucie.”
He paused a moment to let that sink in.
“Brucie,” he repeated just in case it was still unclear. “Not Bruce and sure as shit not Batman.”
From the worried looks on his siblings faces they were starting to get it.
“And if Harold were to discover that he is dating Batman…” Damian pondered.
“He’d run for the hills.”
