Summary
Soulbonds show what marks the skin but not what marrs it - she thinks of the wounds echoed on her flesh, all the marks Percy must now bear if he’s still out there. He’d loved his experiments, loved to work with his hands and she thinks that’s still true now if the marks she notices are any indication, but he was a noble, rich and wealthy and safe.
Her scars she’s earned. Percy’s would be inflicted. Percy’s would be survived.

Percy’s late for dinner again. This isn’t uncommon - honestly, before they’d gotten together, Vex is pretty sure the only reason Percy ate regularly was that he would be dragged (down from his room, or up from his workshop as the case may be) to eat with them: left to his own devices his timekeeping goes out the window.
So- she knows to expect this. She’d known to expect this from before they’d gotten together - this is standard Percy behaviour, losing track of time. But… it’s one thing to know and another thing to experience. It’s one thing to know his terrible timekeeping but also to have the evidence of how readily he makes time for her and projects for her and for her worries. It’s one thing to be aware it might happen, it’s another for it to happen three days in a row and god but she wishes she could rely on him to be there.
There are days, especially recently, when she’d really like for him to be there.

Vex sees the ghosts of animals, lingering in the corners of the world. Humanoid ghosts everyone knows have the potential linger, but people forget about animals, especially animals in magic-rich areas.
Vax sees... well they’re not ghosts, not quite. They are humanoid, that’s for sure, but Vax describes them to her like echoes or impressions of people, not a full lingering soul. Usually they fade eventually - some of them he tries to speak to, tries to get alone and gently helps to pass on, to dissipate, to find some peace.

Percy generally isn’t hugely, overtly protective of any of them. It struck Vex early on, once he loosened up enough for it to become clear he cared about them. He cares about them, and wants them to be well. He respects them and admires their abilities. But he’s not protective.
It’s an interesting conundrum for a very long time - until Vex finally puts the last piece into place.
Percy hates to be overbearing.

Summary
The first time a citizen presses a jar of preserves into her hand she’s stunned and concerned in equal measure. She doesn’t have Desmond at her side yet, helping her manage day to day matters - that won’t be for another week or so - so she finds herself carrying the jar around through the Winter’s Crest festival, a heavy weight in the pockets of her gown, occasionally clunking against her thigh.
By the end of the day she has bruises on her thigh but they’re more welcome than the bitemarks she used to bear and she finally pulls out the jar to examine.

The tears are bloodied. Not blood just- bloodied. His eye fluid is still made up of tears it’s just- there’s blood in it now, watery and weak and leaving pinkish streaks down his face. That’s almost worse than anything else. Feeding on blood is one thing - how many creatures had Vex pointed out to him that thrived on the unusual? Hummingbirds on flower nectar, bats on blood, moths that could feed on tears. Blood is… it’s dietary, and it’s terrible, that he has to feed on his friends and he hates it but-
It’s dietary. That he can handle.
The bloodied tears just remind him of what living personhood he’s lost - he cries, and that very blood he eats to live pours out of him, wasted.
He knows the others would probably try to convince him it’s not wasted - Keyleth, he knows would tell him he has every right to be upset by everything, but Keyleth, like Pike, is too good for all of them.
Grog, of course, just tries to convince him that it’s fine.

Honestly, with the pain in her side, she mostly isn’t registering the smaller cuts and bruises and splinters - she only registered she’d done something to her shoulder because of the stiffness of movement - and while she winces at the bite of antiseptic salve she rapidly forgets it when the dull throb of her side is so much more pervasive.

It’s lovely, not having to worry half so much about getting hit. Certainly, some of those they fight have longbows and shortbows and crossbows and slings and spells and all that lark, but the benefit of distance means they usually see if someone’s lining up a strike on them and, similarly, so do their colleagues in the midst of the melee, usually much closer and able to keep the potential trouble off-balance.
Which is all to say that Percy doesn’t entirely know what to do when Vex is suddenly knocked down by what seems to be a Fireball-enchanted arrow in the middle of a fight.
What’s worse is that she doesn’t get up.
