Summary
Dire circumstances call for exploiting loopholes.
During the Emerald Witch Arc, Ciel lies in bed, succumbed to hysterical blindness and an onslaught of traumatic memories. After being commanded to not touch him, Sebastian is at a loss until he thinks of a way to get Ciel to technically undo his order.
By turning into a dog.

Summary
Ciel spun back around in his chair, gesturing to a line up of sweets on his desk, speaking around the candy in his mouth. “Funtom’s introducing a new candy bundle to go with our plush rabbits for spring. There’s a lot on the line.”
Sebastian had a feather duster tucked under his arm, which he set aside, and a light smile on his face, which suspiciously remained. It was the sort of expression that set anyone with sense (only Ciel) on edge. “Might I assist? My confectionery crafting is second to none.”
Sebastian kissed him, swift yet gentle, eyes alight with mischief. In his surprise, Sebastian deepened their kiss with uncharacteristic haste, licking into his mouth and stoking a heat within Ciel that hadn’t been there moments before. Ciel gripped the arm of his chair and gasped, face turning pink as the lemon drop clacked against his teeth- and was suddenly gone.
Along with Sebastian.
Ciel slammed his hands down on the desk. “Hey!"
Sebastian withdrew triumphantly, thoughtfully moving the candy around his mouth. “It’s very sweet.” He put a finger to his own lips, chuckling to himself. “Or am I mostly tasting you?”
“I’ll strangle you.”
“Shall I fetch a stepladder for you?”

Summary
Ciel expected Sebastian to bid him goodnight, or perhaps to offer to stand guard, but he did neither. Sebastian set his candelabra down on Ciel’s bedside table, expression thoughtful. “Young master, you have quite the busy day tomorrow, and I sense you’re unlikely to have an uninterrupted night of sleep.”
“You almost let me forget,” muttered Ciel.
“There is one thing you haven’t tried to stave off the nightmares.”
“Which is?”
Sebastian nodded to the white rabbit plush which took after Sebastian's own self in Ciel’s arms. “Why not let the real thing comfort you as well?”
Ciel would have normally put up more of a fuss, but the glimmer of hope of being able to sleep the entire night through was enough to immediately suppress any argument. That, and he spent a remarkable amount of time in Sebastian’s arms already. Whatever intimacy was between them, it had transcended neat and tidy ideas long ago anyway. “Fine."

Summary
It all tumbled out in a rush, now that he was going, and Finny rudely didn’t let his master interrupt. “It's that you may not have always been called Ciel, but that doesn’t make you being Ciel, if you wanted to be, any less true! I used to be a number, and then you named me. Just because the Finnian came later, that doesn’t mean I’m less Finnian. You gave me that name, instead of being 012, and I think that you can give yourself a name and have it be real. You never lied to me, that’s how I see it!” He tacked on, “Sir!” at the end, trying to scrape his manners back together.
“You’re right, I am Ciel Phantomhive.”
Ciel smiled grimly, not the acceptance Finny had wanted, but it could’ve been worse. It set him on edge, as Ciel raised his head, eye fixed on his. “What if I asked you to consider what all of my servants have in common? You are extraordinary, Finny. If you hadn’t been, if you had been just another boy, damned to a short life in East End, nothing noteworthy about you, I wouldn’t have ‘saved’ you.
Do you really think this me I am, Earl Ciel Phantomhive, is a good person?”

Summary
Finny had never really known what a year meant.
He knelt by a flowerbed he'd planted a year prior, which had somehow survived under his care. Sebastian had told him that the primroses were perennials, so they would bloom year after year, but the sight of the newly opening, pale blossoms made Finny's chest seize up.
Finny sniffed, dragging his sleeve across his face.
“Whatever is the matter?” asked Sebastian, calm yet puzzled voice coming from over Finny's shoulder. “The flowers are perfectly intact.”
“Yeah! I just…” It must sound silly, but Finny smiled through his tears. “We made it a whole year, and so did they.”
Sebastian, who was perfect at everything, also had a knack for figuring out what Finny actually meant versus what he said. “I see. A year of happiness, culminating in new life. I imagine you're going to be thrilled when the harvest comes back around.”
“Yes! Yes, exactly!” Finny beamed at Sebastian, expecting for Sebastian to go and find something more urgent to do, but even Sebastian was momentarily lost in thought. “Sir?”
“It's an odd thing for me to think, after the life I've lived,” admitted Sebastian. “But this is the longest I've ever stayed in one place as well.”
