    What if Bella’s near drowning and Harry’s death were a true wake-up call to her. This is alluded to in the book, but she just thinks about it, and it doesn’t really change anything. What if the phone call never happened? What if Alice had told the rest of her family that she was wrong, that Bella was still alive, so Edward never found out that Bella had jumped off the cliff? He never thought she might be dead, so he never called her house that day or made plans to try to die at the Volturi’s hand. This is my imaginings of what could have happened if Jake had actually kissed Bella that day.

    This story starts in New Moon, after Bella jumped off the cliff and Alice returned. It’s the day before Harry’s funeral when Alice and Charlie are talking in the kitchen.
