Despite all the centuries it's been since Lennox last saw Faust, he still writes a letter to his lord after leaving each place he looks in hopes that one day, he’ll be able to deliver them personally. Perhaps the idea is sentimental and far-fetched, but the Sir Faust he knew—the one who led troops towards the goal of a world where humans and wizards could live together in peace—had a penchant for ideas of that nature.
