“Ah. Here we go, let’s see…” Luther muses. “You shall not lie with man, for it is an abomination. That’s a good one. What else… Ah yes, homosexuality is contrary to God’s natural order and results from rejecting God. Sound familiar? Let’s keep looking…”
Mac feels like he’s spinning out as Luther recites every possible bible verse at him that could be used to break him down. Every verse against gay people or sodomy, every verse about the obedience of sons and the discipline of fathers, every verse about lust and temptation. Mac bugs out. Eyes spacing, body curling in; he swears, he can actually feel the building blocks he’d spent the past couple of years cultivating with his happiness, contentment and intimacy actively fucking crumbling with every word that leaves Luther’s mouth. Everything he’s become, everything he loves being, everything he truly is and always will be… implodes.
Luther snaps the bible shut. “This is a holy book. And you use it as an ashtray.”
