Ron Weasley or Ronald if you were his mum, otherwise known as child/red-head/brother #6, was quite used to blending into a crowd (thank-you-very-much-no-need for-the-reminder). When your family qualifies as a small or middling crowd unto itself, you don't have to try very hard in that department. Even less so when your oldest brothers were seemingly born knowing reciting the twelve uses of dragon blood for one reason or another, and that's not taking into account the brothers that would be mad enough to actually look for a dragon. For one reason or another.
So, when Ron meets the Saviour of the Wizarding World on the way to Hogwarts. He wasn't expecting someone so. . .bloody cool! It was wild enough to have her be his classmate, but to stick with someone as normal as him for him and not just his family was something wild.
On the flipside, if anyone were to ask Holly Potter why she chose him in the first place, she would just smile a little and say that she prefers the magical version of normal to the Muggle version any day.
