Flambae had been shot. A spike of cold punched down Robert’s spine, even though the body under his hands radiated heat.

    Or, Flambae took a bullet for Robert (actually, two bullets), despite claiming he’d never do that. They both end up learning a lot about themselves and each other afterward.
