    Tom picked up his plate and made his way to the living room, the sandwich in his mouth just long enough to take a bite before he let it drop back onto the plate.
    “Hey, Ozzy, you ready for some Holiday Wars?” he grinned, rounding the corner and…
    And Ozzy was sitting on the floor, nosing a limp, dark lump on the couch. A dark lump lying on his stomach with black quills, red highlights, and charred metal shoes. Shadow shifted, turning his head just enough to stare Tom in the face with a piercingly red eye.
    Tom was frozen. He couldn’t breathe. Couldn’t move. Couldn’t look away.
    Then Shadow shifted again, tucking his face down into the couch cushion.

    Or, Shadow shows up unannounced, and everybody has to deal with it. Heaven knows they can’t turn him over to GUN. So they’ll just have to make do.

    Summary

    Maria and the rest of the ARK were evacuated before the G.U.N. raid. Shadow was locked aboard the ARK in a stasis pod for 50 years. Eggman found notes from his grandfather about the Eclipse Cannon, but not Shadow.

    Instead we get Sonic literally tripping over Shadow's pod and releasing him by pure accident. What's a top secret government bio-engineered hedgehog to do when surrounded by a bunch of people who know nothing about who he is supposed to do?

    Apparently, make friends...

    Shadow actually bristled at that question, narrowed eyes darting to glare at Sonic as he crossed his arms,
    “Fool, you think that the ultimate lifeform would live in some pathetic cave?”
    “Actually, I’ve never really considered where you lived.” Sonic admitted, deciding to ignore the ultimate lifeform comment - he had to pick his battles right now, “But in my defense no one in the village really knows anything about you. You know, besides the fact that you go on murderous rampages.”
    “I’ve never killed anyone… In your village.” Shadow defended, and Sonic felt sweat dripping down the back of his neck.

     

    Or, when one of Eggman's attacks actually succeeds in wounding Sonic, he and Shadow are forced to spend some time together. To both of their chagrin.
