In case anyone is wondering, magic has a smell.
Magic has a lot of different smells, actually. Some magic smells like nature. Like rain or the ocean, like flowers or foliage, like turned earth. Some magic smells industrial, like oil or tar or burning rubber. Some magic smells like food. Like citrus and herbs, chocolate and coffee, or a home cooked meal.
In Seonghwa’s experience, the scent of a particular bit of magic can tell you a lot about what kind of magic it is, but all magic has some kind of smell attached to it, a scent that lingers around the person who conjured the magic or the person it’s intended to affect, and Hongjoong reeks of magic. -
