With nothing but his old straw hat and a handful of promises, he holds on to the hope he'll see the open seas once more. When he is finally granted a chance to escape, the only place left for him to go is forward.
Complete canon rewrite featuring Luffy as a former slave and what that means in the face of his quest for ultimate freedom. Loosely follows the timeline of canon but reimagines each arc.
