Betty runs into her, somebody who thought she would never see again after graduating high school. However, she comes to the slow realization that Veronica Lodge got the happiness that she threw away. He wrote it in the pages of his book, that even though he placed the stars in the sky for Betty, their love wasn't what he needed.
And somehow, Veronica gave him what he needed.

She swallows and looks at him with those big brown eyes of hers that make him feel like he’s staring directly into a black hole that will suck him in. “Can you stop hating me just for a little bit? I really need you right now.”
She doesn’t say a friend or even someone. She says she needs him, so there is no way he could’ve ever said no.
Really, even if she hadn’t, he probably wouldn’t have said no and he’s sure she knows it too. That’s his tragedy, that he will never be able to say no to her.

He looks at her like it’s the most absurd thing he’s ever heard, because, well, it is. “What in the hell are you talking about? Why would I have wanted this, and literally how could I have schemed to make this happen? I can’t scheme! I’m not like you!”

Blair Waldorf has finally gotten everything she wanted. She got into Yale. Even if she didn't end up with Nate, and she didn't end up with Chuck, she's at Yale. But now, she actually has a clean slate. She actually has to try. She's not quite sure what to do with that.
Dan Humphrey has finally gotten into an Ivy League College. All that bullshit at St. Judes, all those moments spent darting around the Upper East Side, to be a good student, to be a writer, to be with Serena. All of it worth it to get to this moment. He didn't get the girl, but now he doesn't have anything left to lose. He's not quite sure what to do with that.
