“Hey! You’ve been gone for a while. Is everything okay?” André asked as Tori sat down next to him with a soft grunt.
“Fine. Just ran into someone I know, so we had a quick chat.” She smiled convincingly at him before turning to face the others. “So, what were you guys talking about?”
With her question, the conversation quickly picked up again. Tori sat there listening as the voices blended with the music and the low murmur of conversations around her. She nodded her head when expected, laughed when needed and smiled whenever someone looked in her way. The lights blurred and the sound of her surroundings slowly faded into a soft hum– until she caught Jade and Beck sharing a small kiss and Tori quickly looked away with the heavy weight on her chest increasing tenfold but a steady smile remained on her face for the rest of the night.
Graduation couldn’t come soon enough.
