Summary
The thing is, for Rumi, that she’s started to notice Zoey and Mira jumping in front of her more and more… even when she’s not down. She’s tried not to say anything because Mira and Zoey act like it’s normal. The balance in the group shifted for the better once Rumi came clean about her patterns - who is she to ruin such a good thing?
But then Rumi takes a blindside hit to the shoulder in a dark alley.
OR, to quote eldergoblin herself: "Pretty sure they'd all throw themselves in front of danger for the others and now Rumi has to deal with being the one so loved her girl took a bunch of hits protecting her."

Thrown purposely and accusingly at the irritating untrustworthy girl whom Red had accidentally pulled along with her for the time travel. Red had meant to hurt, to chastise, to scare Chloe off her back so that she can save the world by herself.
Now those nicknames are meant to be affectionate: to attract, to show Chloe that she would much rather spend the rest of her Wonderlandian life with Princess Goody-two shoes Charming by her side."
Or a story of how they fall in love as narrated through their many nicknames for each other.

“Do… Do you think she still thinks about us?” Zoey said without really looking up at first, afraid of the look Mira might give her in return. Mira however, only had sad, soft eyes at the question before removing the toothbrush from her mouth. “I hope so.”
