Crowley looks at him for a long moment, then smiles wryly and holds up the crumpled old book, blank pages fluttering in the stale air.
he opens the first page and reads the singular line that the book of life left behind.
“it starts, as it will end, with a garden.”

Buck wants to panic, instead he laughs and smiles, because he needs to keep Eddie awake.———
The elevator stalls, and all Buck can do is keep Eddie talking whilst they wait for a rescue that might not reach them in time.
