The soulmate bond between them burned ice cold, a pain so sharp and aching that it immediately engulfed Katsuki's heart in frost, smothering some of those livid flames. Through Katsuki’s other bond with Shoto, he felt worry, a tug on the bond that no doubt Izuku was also getting.
”Oh… oh. Okay.” The light in Izuku's eyes guttered, going dull. It reminded Katsuki of when he’d told Izuku to jump off their middle school roof. "I’ll leave you two alone.''

The little fucker grins. "Why would I want your autograph, Bakugou Katsuki?"
Katsuki places his palms on the counter and leans forward, a familiar smirk stretching across his lips. "I'm Dynamight."
Katsuki expects realization to dawn in his eyes, for his cheeks to tint pink, for his next words to come out all jumbled as he accepts the napkin with jittery enthusiasm. Instead, however, he leans forward on his elbows, fearlessly mirroring Katsuki's smirk, and it makes his head feel light. "And I'm Midoriya Izuku."

“Kacchan, are you awake?”
The voice was slightly louder now, a low murmur just a few feet away. The words, the tone, the lilting uncertainty — it all sounded like Deku, so much so that Katsuki felt aggravation rise in his chest, inexorable as the tides. He allowed himself a quiet grunt, venting just a little of the potent emotion into the room, but still didn’t move.
There was a long silence. For a time, the intruder just stood there, motionless.
And then the mattress creaked.
Katsuki gets a late-night visitor.

“Why does it have to be him?” Katsuki blurts out, because really, that’s what he wants to know. “Of all of the fucking people in the world, why does it have to be him?”
“I was confused about it at first too,” Kirishima admits. He sits up a little straighter. “I mean, you guys fucking hated each other for the longest time. You couldn’t even be in the same room together without getting into an argument or breaking a table.” He laughs a little. Katsuki doesn’t understand how any of this is funny. “Then one day, you guys came into work and… you smelled like him. Everything calmed down after that. It was like all of that hatred and tension was just your way of trying to process your feelings for one another. Once you guys finally, uh, talked it out, things got better.”
(In which Katsuki Bakugou is attacked and loses all recollection of his relationship with Izuku and has to learn to fall in love with him all over again. Faced with a hero case involving a serial killer and missing omegas, Katsuki needs to learn to put aside his own prejudice and open himself up to truth.)
