Summary
That's when it finally clicks. “Wait K,” an amused smile plays on his lips. “Are you drunk?”
She snickers, effectively confirming his suspicions. “Maybe a little tipsy.” Kwannon takes another sip of her drink, which seems to be her first and only half-finished at that. “I’m a bit of a lightweight.”

Summary
“Kwannon,” he says as he reaches over and turns down the music. “What are you doing up so late? Trouble with the others?”
She shakes her head. “No, everyone else is asleep. I just couldn’t sleep. What are you doing?”
“Baking bread,” replies Greycrow. He picks up the metal mixing bowl in front of him and tilts it towards her so she can see the dough he’s mixing together in it. She inhales and smells flour, yeast, and salt–very different scents from his usual ones of metal and oil and gunpowder. In which Kwannon and Greycrow bake bread together and talk about the pasts that brought them to the Hellions.

Summary
Kalim says look, a butterfly, and you turn your head warily, searching, so you can keep a respectful distance from it, but he throws his little hands out and says, “Don’t move, you’ll scare it!”
You freeze; as his hands reach toward you, your blood goes ice cold despite the high afternoon sun. A dread, alien chill settles in your little bones like nothing you've ever felt before, and out of the corner of your eye you sense the drowsy fanning of the butterfly’s wings.
It's perched in your hair, directly over your left ear.

Summary
Kalim shifts nervously in his seat. “So, uh. I have a lot of freedom to decide what I want to do, as long as it benefits the interests of the family, right, and that’s great! I won't actually inherit anything for a long, long time—hopefully anyway! Dad's still young, and pretty healthy—but I have to start somewhere, it doesn’t really matter where. But. Uh. My parents are also a little old fashioned in that they absolutely insist I… start a family.” The horror must show on your face because he rushes to assuage your disgust. “It’s really not as bad as it sounds! It’s not forced-arranged or anything, I’m not being like. Sold off to the highest shareholder or anything! Haha! But, y’know. Mom keeps sending me Magicam profiles of eligible daughters of trusted business partners and politicians and, well. The intent is obvious. It’s really important that we like each other and get along or it could be–” (“Fucking fatal?” you would supply, if you had your wits about you to interject) “–bad, so I—we!—we do get to make our own decisions. It’s really not that bad Jamil please stop looking at me like that.”
