    Tanjirou makes the decision to pursue Akaza, and he ends up walking straight into a trap set by Muzan. The attack that is landed on him is made with the intent to kill, but instead sends Tanjirou a thousand years into the past—a past where Muzan is still human and has the potential to change.

    Tanjirou could kill him. It would only take a moment. Tanjirou just needed to let in the sunlight.

    His feet moved on their own, quietly stepping into the room and around the man’s sickly body. Tanjirou stopped in front of the misu blinds hanging, separating the inside from the outside, and after only a moment of hesitation, he lifted a set of blinds.

    Light flooded into the room, falling over Muzan’s body. Tanjirou waited, staring at the man.

    Nothing happened. His flesh didn’t crumble away to ash, and he showed no sign of discomfort beyond what stemmed from his illness.

    The man was human.

    Slowly, quietly, Tanjirou lowered the blinds. He had suspected that something was off—the style of the building, the language difference, and the clothing that people wore. All of it was different from what Tanjirou knew. Older. Like he was in the past.
