“Kaeya,” Diluc repeats after poking at his food for a while without eating it. Kaeya almost shudders.
This is it, he thinks. This is when they throw me out. Of course. It was always the only possible outcome, wasn’t it? He doesn’t belong here. He never has and never will.
But the truth is, Kaeya doesn’t want to go. He doesn’t want to find himself alone again in the dark and in the cold. He just wants to escape Diluc right now, escape this conversation so the words can’t be spoken out loud, he wants to go down there and hide, hide, hide-
“Are you an alcoholic?”
(Or, Kaeya can't sleep at night in his bedroom, and Diluc isn't pleased to learn where he goes instead.)

It wasn’t Diluc teaming up with the Knights but deep down, he knew they needed every helping hand. So when Kaeya came up to him with a proposal of joining his undercover side, it took him little to no thinking before agreeing.
