All he has to do is last an hour, then he can confront the president. Or, really, he can confront Ranpo. There was no way Fukuzawa came up with this idea himself.
Ranpo probably thought it would do Dazai good to “express himself” in a way regular therapy wouldn’t allow him to. It’s as if he thinks Dazai would ever let that happen. He almost feels bad.
