As much as his nightmares plague him, he considers closing his eyes and going back to sleep now because they’re the only way he can see her properly, even if it is usually her lying on the ground with a knife stuck in her. He can visualize her when he’s awake but after everything, he can’t quite properly recreate her mannerisms or the exact cadence of her voice. She’s still achingly familiar to him, yet long-bottled grief has slowly eroded his idea of her.
