“Hellooo? I said Houston, do you copy?”
Caitlyn fiddled with her headset, having finally found the green button on the side and hastily letting out a rather breathless reply. “Um, yes. Hello? This is Houston. I copy.”
There was a long pause in which Caitlyn sat twiddling her thumbs, anxiety pushing the frantic pulse of her heartbeat through her eardrums. Was that wrong? Did she already fuck up? She took a steady deep breath, finger hovering over the talk button until the familiar voice of the astronaut came through her headset once more.
“Damn, Houston. I didn’t expect you to sound so sexy.”
OR
Caitlyn has been assigned as the personal capcom to one of the astronauts currently on a year long expedition at the international space station. Cue long months of pining and desperate longing.

Summary
Vi shouldn't have been surprised to learn that Caitlyn and Maddie were dating. They made sense in a way Caitlyn and Vi never did, but that doesn't mean the revelation hurt any less. Well, time for Vi to push the pain inside and ignore it until she dies, like any normal well adjusted adult would do!
When Maddie insisted the three of them head out for some drinks to relax for a short while after the fight against Ambessa, Vi didn't see why not. To Vi's delight, a very familiar face from Stillwater came to join the group on their night out.
Vi doesn't think she's ever seen Caitlyn so pissed off in her entire life.

Summary
Vi looks at the big clock on the far wall. 7:46AM. She’s one minute late today. Every morning for the past six months - well, every morning Vi’s been on shift, so she’s just assuming about the other days - she’s passed by at exactly 7:45AM, always at a brisk walk, always in a perfectly-tailored suit, not a single long, silky-looking hair out of place.
7:47AM. The crisp clack of heeled boots on concrete pulls Vi out of her musings. There must have been some sort of emergency, because the subject of Vi’s (minor) obsession walks past the fire station at a faster clip than normal. Which is sort of saying something, because Mystery Woman’s got legs for days, long and slender, visibly toned with long, lean muscle through her suit pants. At the faster clip, Vi has less time to admire her ass and tiny, tiny waist as she walks by, but that’s fine, because the view as she leaves is fantastic.

"I'll stitch you up when you are back to consciousness" she mumbled, completely wrapped up in the dressing of the wound. So much so that she did not notice the voice that addressed her, at first.
A female voice with a very distinct American accent. The voice sounded exhausted, parched, low, but strong.
"If you're talking to me, you're going to have to speak English sweetheart"
Caitlyn's eyes widened as she looked up from dressing the wound and cerulean eyes found the greyest ones she had ever seen, sending a rush through her that she was unfamiliar with.
Then, Caitlyn spoke.
English this time, laced with a light French accent.
"I told you your wound would need to be stitched up when you were to wake" she simply informed her, ignoring how heart her started pounding yet again.

During the summer of 1943, Caitlyn rescues US Air Force pilot Violet McAdams from a plane wreck in the French country side, and decides to hide her on her farm to allow her wounds to heal properly.
Neither of them in prepared for the romance that follows this foolish, yet courageous decision.

Vi rolled her eyes as Caitlyn followed her into the bathroom, whirling on her the second the door closed.
“What the fuck is your deal? Thought it might be fun to slum it for the night with the gutter trash who rescued you out there? You’re welcome, by the way.”
“No, I–” Caitlyn made a noise of frustration, face scrunching up, and then she was really fuckin’ close.
Vi held her breath, not wanting to break the weird fucking moment.
“You’re infuriating,” Caitlyn breathed, and Vi tried - and failed - not to shiver when warm breath ghosted over her lips.
“Yeah, well–” Vi started to snark back…and then Vi’s night was officially the weirdest she’d had in a while, because Caitlyn Kiramman, conservative politician’s daughter, was kissing her like she was fucking starving and Vi was an all-you-can-eat buffet in the desert.

Seeing how Vi’s been living breaks Caitlyn’s heart.
Not necessarily the size of the room, or how solid the bed is when she sits down on it.
Instead, it’s the bottles - the countless bottles, all empty - the broken mirror and the dark, murky blood staining the already stained floorboards.
Some of the blood stains aren’t uniform either, having little spots where something must have fallen in them. A droplet, of some kind.
Tears, most likely.
