Gaara grew up not knowing the touch of another until his early teen years, and that extended to the wings that sprout from his back. They were large and heavy, perfect for a commanding and threatening presence but not exactly easy to care for on his own, leading them to become an unpreened mess.
That was until Lee had become his friend and insisted he help take care of Gaara. Now whenever Lee and Gaara have a chance to meet Lee always tries to take a few moments to help Gaara preen, always so gentle in a way that makes Gaara’s chest fill with warmth. Gaara wasn’t sure anymore how long they had this little ritual, but it slowly became some of his favorite things to do with the older ninja.
