"Viktor did NOT hate Jayce Talis, actually, because hate was a very strong word. He just… felt some jealousy that everything seemed to come a little too easy for Jayce, the Golden Boy from Hogwarts. He was, after all, one of the smartests kids around, along with Viktor himself"
Viktor and Jayce knew about each other but they only ever talked during Fourth year when they were forced to wotk as partners. Jayce was trying really hard to through viktor's thick skin and the latter was not making it easy until something happened that made Viktor realize they were not as different as he thought.
Important: I changed some things such as they start first year at 14 y/o. So at fourth year they are 17 and so on. I treated Hogwarts as a College situation too.
This fic was based on the jayvik hogwarts au comics I was drawing and posting on x/twt!

“If you solve this,” Viktor starts, stepping back from the chalkboard with a frown on his face. “I will kiss you.”
Jayce can’t take his eyes off of the board. He wants to. He wants to look at Viktor’s face and acknowledge the joke. But–but Viktor will then see his face and Jayce doesn’t know what kind of expression he is wearing.
So he keeps his eyes forward, gaze tracing the bend and curve of the equation, scrawled in Viktor’s neat handwriting. Mathematics is easy, it’s safe. It doesn’t offer to kiss you every other month.

Viktor's honesty always managed to leave Jayce speechless. The atmosphere shifted slightly, a subtle tension seeping into the lazy comfort of the afternoon.
Jayce cleared his throat. "Well, I'll shave tonight."
"Or I could do it now, if you'd like," Viktor offered, his gaze steady and filled with that confidence that always drove Jayce crazy.
Or: Viktor was going to shave his beard. It was a kind, harmless gesture... Jayce couldn't believe how turned on he was by it.
