Maybe it will go well for them. They’ll find financial stability. Leave once their first contract ends. Transition into civilian life. But maybe it won’t. Maybe they’ll die serving, or do and see such terrible things that they come back broken. Drink themselves to death. Or maybe they’ll thrive for years only to piss off the worst person possible. Find themselves exiled. Out of the game. Stuck in a hell of their own making. Hating that game. Disgusted by it. Yet longing for it. Craving it. Going absolutely fucking mad because they are so goddamn close to it, but are unable to play.
