Summary
Unbidden, the memory returned to Nik of the night he’d met Laurent. Damen had introduced him to the friend group at a house party. He was beautiful, blonde, and whip-smart, with a sarcastic mouth. Nikandros had disliked him immediately, writing the man off as another of Damen’s blonde conquests. Later that night, his dislike had turned to intense hatred when he found the two of them on his couch.
He remembered the way Damen's body had looked in the dim light, the muscles of his back rippling as he'd thrust into Laurent. The way Laurent's legs had been wrapped around Damen's waist, his blonde hair a wild mess, his eyes squeezed shut in ecstasy. Nikandros had watched from the shadows, unable to look away until they had climaxed in each other's arms. He'd been torn between his respect for Damen as a friend and the primal need to claim the man he'd once had for himself.

“There are tasks to do,” Laurent protested as he relaxed into Damen’s hold. “People to contact. Rebellions to overthrow.”
When Damen kissed him, the fire in his head went out, chased down to the embers.
