Summary
Forgetting every protocol she’s sworn to uphold and any sense of decorum a pilot is supposed to have, Lexa closes the distance between them in one short step, envelops her wife in a hug. Clarke wraps her arms around her shoulder, fingers finding their way in between the curls to cup the back of her head — and just like that, Lexa is home.
“What are you doing here?” Lexa asks once her heart has adjusted to the surprise, its rhythm back to normal. Her voice is muffled against a shoulder, but she’s not ready to pull away.
Clarke presses a kiss to the curve of her neck, and Lexa can feel her lips spreading into a smile as she whispers, “Happy anniversary, babe.”

“Sorry. What’s your name?” Kara lowers the last bite of her hot dog. “You know mine, it’s only fair.”
The woman shifts her weight, pursing her lips and seeming to think about it. “I’m Lena,” she offers at last, watching Kara’s face.
“Well, it’s nice to meet you, Lena.” Kara gives her an enormous smile.
“Likewise.” Lena smiles back, then takes a breath. “I hope this isn’t the last time we talk.”
“Me, either.”
Kara watches Lena go, sees her pause at the street, then dart across awkwardly in her heels. “Lena,” she says to herself, trying it out. She goes to take another bite of her hot dog and feels the ketchup drip from her thumb, dropping into her lap.

I couldn't believe it until a 'friend' of mine got dragged into one, hence the inspiration for this story)
He already has one person in mind, his reclusive friend Lena, who seems adamant to stay single forever after a messy split with her ex. And after a lot of convincing from her sister, Kara agrees to participate in the shoot as well. Neither Lena nor Kara expect anything to come of it. It's just a photo shoot, after all. But perhaps James is just as good a matchmaker as he is a photographer...

Lexa wasn't sure what it was that drew her into the little coffee shop on the corner. Maybe it was because it was less than a block away from the front door of her new building. Maybe it was because it wasn't a Starbucks or some other large chain coffee front that cared more about profit than the flavor of their beans. Maybe it was the warm air filled with the soft scent of coffee, chocolate and cinnamon. But likely, definitely, it was the defiant little corner of the store that loudly rebelled against the norm.
It was early November and everything around Lexa was filled with red and greens or whites and blues. It screamed of Christmas and Hanukkah. Of buying gifts and consumer driven profit. But the back corner of the coffee shop was filled with oranges and reds and browns with a rather large sign written in an angry scrawl that said "It's not even Thanksgiving yet, assholes!" There was just something about it that, to Lexa, felt poetically beautiful.
