Summary
No matter what Draco does over the years, it seems like Hermione can't see past the boy he used to be. If being cruel is the only way to get her attention, then he can live with that, even if it means he'll never get to really have her the way he wants to.
Hermione is in a tough spot. She needs money to pay off her father's debt. And it just so happens that Malfoy has money and is interested in giving it to her - if she'll do things for him, that is. How lucky for him that she's in no position to turn down his help.
Even if she'll never love him, at least he can have this, right?

Summary
“You cannot outrun me Granger”, he screamed behind her. And as his voice echoed along the stone walls, Hermione realized she was alone, and that help was not coming.
She turned a corner, and was grabbed in a tight squeeze. Someone had taken hold of her by her waist and pulled her to a secret room, covering her mouth with his hand, disappearing behind an enchanted tapestry.
She could see the hallway as if there was nothing there, and Cormac passed still running after her with a hand over his side where the hex probably had hit him. But he couldn’t see where she was.
As soon as McLaggen left, the sound of his footsteps disappearing, the hold on Hermione’s waist loosened, and the hand left her mouth.
Praying to all the gods for her good fortune, trying to calm her breathing, she turned expecting to see Blaise Zabini, ready to thank him for saving her, and found herself speechless, as she observed Draco Malfoy standing in front of her.
In which our boy Malfoy saved Hermione and they start to meet secretly during their sixth year in Hogwarts.
