Vi doesn’t realize her breathing has become sobbing until Caitlyn’s hand leaves her.
Put it back, she wants to say and please don’t leave and yes, good, go, you can’t see me like this, and–
“Vi.” Caitlyn’s impossibly-gentle hands brush away her tears, and her impossibly-gentle voice leaves bruises under Vi’s eyes where she usually presses the heels of her hands to keep from crying when she feels the barely-repressed need. “Vi, hey, it’s alright, we’ll figure it out, we’ll–”
And then Vi realizes that, worse than crying, she’s apologizing. Her arms are wrapped around her body, right hand clasping left shoulder, left arm hugging her torso, and she’s bent over on the curb and she’s saying I’m sorry I’m sorry I’m sorry I’msorryI’msorry
OR in the aftermath of the explosion Jinx caused, Vi grapples with the brutality of being a sister.

Summary
Caitlyn’s ears were ringing from the explosion.
There was smoke and dust all around her, obscuring her vision as she staggered to her feet, trying to process what had just happened. One minute she’d been half-carrying Vi away from the carnage after a Noxian soldier had sliced a nasty cut across her stomach, the next Vi was pushing her away and running to throw herself in front of Jinx, who seemed to be reaching out for the monstrosity that had once been their father. Caitlyn just barely caught a glimpse of a tiny, blue-haired figure crouched underneath the roaring creature before there was an explosion of blue light, the force of it so strong she was knocked off her feet.
Now, she gripped her rifle at her side, scanning desperately through the smoke for any sign of life. The name left her lips like an instinct, panic taking over as she screamed. “Vi! Vi, are you out there? Vi!”

The progression of Caitlyn and Vi's relationship in Act III and beyond, starting from the aftermath of the battle at Viktor's commune as the two find their way back to each other and care for each other in their respective times of need :)
