"If you're going to teach me piano, you should be paid for your labour!" Lucy frowns.
Schroeder rolls his eyes. "I don't care if I spend countless hours trying to teach you how to play one single scale." He tells her firmly. "I'm doing this because I want to. Your parents don't have to pay me to teach you something that I already love to do."
Of course, the dark-haired girl would, undoubtedly, be a difficult student. She was wilful, headstrong, and stubborn. But she was also sweet, charming, and determined.
And her smile?
He privately thought that smile was payment enough.

Summary
Summer arrives like it does every year, and for kids in this small town, summer means summer camp. Most kids enjoy each year, but this year, in particular, has added pressure to be perfect. It’s the last year at the middle school camp for crabby eighth-grade girl Lucy Van Pelt, who is beginning to stress about going to high school. After Lucy begins to back away from her agitating behavior, Schroeder, her unrequited love, starts to see her in a different light, viewing her as a real person rather than the constant nuisance she had always been. Although it should be as simple as him just admitting his feelings, it gets complicated when he’s avoidant, and other people begin to stand in the way. Now, camp is definitely unforgettable, but not for the reasons Lucy thought they would be.

But as the Van Pelts arrival became the talk of the town the summer before Junior year, Schroeder, having grown out of his boyishness, wondered what would be soon to come. Especially when his band had just posted a notice for a new singer.

Summary
Lucy Van Pelt, the girl Schroeder never got to say goodbye to, the girl that wouldn’t stop bugging him when he played piano, the girl that he couldn’t understand why he was so drawn to, moved away when they were 6. And he never said goodbye.
But now, 10 years later, she’s back. So maybe he never really needed to say goodbye.
OR: Lucy moves back to her childhood town and reunited with the peanut gang, including her big fat crush, Schroeder. He’s been pining for her ever since she left, so now that she’s back, he’s a mess.
It’s a lot of chasing :)
