But admittedly, between the turbulence of her farcical relationship, corrupt politicians, and a serial killer on the loose, nothing in Hermione’s life is going according to plan. When Lavender and Parvati came back from after-lunch divination all a-whisper and agog talking about soulmates and the like, Hermione for one had not cared. Ginny, having followed them up the stairs to their dorm, had begged them to show her how they did it and when the three of them had huddled in the corner of the room, Hermione hadn’t cared in the slightest. When the girls had begun squealing in anticipation or delight, Hermione did not care.
When she was accused of compromising Draco Malfoy’s virtue by his own father, Hermione afforded the soulmate prediction a singular, desperate thought before she was embroiled in an airtight betrothal contract.
