Octavia Goetia struggles under the weight of her mother's expectations and the consequences of her father's infidelity. It starts with the paintings and sketches piling up in Octavia's bedroom and the awful nightmares that inspire them. It deepens with too many disturbing and profitable jobs for IMP. It darkens with suggestions of horrors too vile for any demon and conflicts that will change the landscape of Hell. As friendships grow and the year blackens, a rag-tag group of demons band together to answer one question; What price would you pay to save your family?

This epic is what happens when you put Helluva Boss, Stephen King, and Brandon Sanderson into a blender. A slow burn of a first act screams into a gripping, creepy, and heartfelt roller-coaster of a story. The only caveat to keep in mind is that this was written before Helluva Boss Season 2 & Hazbin Hotel Season 1. On the other hand, this only enhances things with how the world worldbuilding and characters are handled. This is a must-read that should be sold on bookstore shelves!

Summary
Stolas knew he'd lose everything after saving Blitz. What he wasn't counting on was being alive to face the consequences. He'd expected to just slip into the dark. But now, living with Blitz and Loona, he has to somehow learn how to navigate his new life. Not to mention the fact that there's a revolution brewing, his daughter is about to inherit his powers, and everybody at I.M.P. is still grappling with the fallout of what happened to them.
But Blitz is softer than he's ever been, taking care of his every need, sleeping at his side every night. It should be enough. It should be all he's ever dreamed it could be.
It should be.

Blitz climbed the island that acted as the only table in the apartment, staring at Stolas. He looked like an overgrown domestic cat, tail whipping as he kneeled over all the paperwork.“Kiss.”
It wasn't a question. It was a demand, and Stolas was more than happy to oblige, smiling as Blitz's lips touched his. It was soft, softer than Blitz usually was. Unguarded, hopeful.
Maybe he could get used to it. Find happiness in that little existence they were building.

What starts as a simple post-Mastermind fic turns into a sprawling mix of a family drama and a political thriller. I was caught off-guard by the nail-biting suspense, only to breathe a sigh of relief when the Buckzo-Goetia family relationships came to the fore. A definite recommend for a surprisingly grounded take on a Helluva Boss story!
