Summary
Xaden Riorson has finally proven everyone wrong. In his third and final year at Basgiath, he has risen to the rank of Wingleader, he is bonded to an exceptionally powerful dragon, and he has one of the most feared signets in the quadrant. While he'd love to burn this place down, it's the only chance for survival-for him, and the other marked ones. But then Violet Sorrengail arrives, the youngest child of one of his greatest enemies. He's convinced she's here to ruin him. But Xaden must also fight against his inexplicable attraction to her, one he very much doesn't want but can't seem to escape.
This is a retelling of Fourth Wing from Xaden's POV, following along with each chapter. I've added new scenes with Xaden, Garrick, Bodhi, Imogen, and Liam. This was written PRE-Iron Flame, and all new scenes and internal thoughts of Xaden are my own theories and speculation. There are spoilers for FW throughout, including from the beginning.
Post-IF update: I've decided to NOT edit this work based on what we learn in IF. I think it gives too much away of the plot of IF to do that, and I love the fanfic I imagined. I may update certain scenes in standalone one-offs.

Summary
“Alex Manes,” he says, the syllables of it dripping with so much acid it makes Alex want to change his entire name.
“Michael,” Alex says in return. He’s pretty sure this isn’t the right way to address someone who’s in his professional charge, but at the end of the day, they went to school together. He’s known Michael since they were fourteen years old.
There’s a brief look of surprise on Michael’s face at the sound of his own name, but then his expression breaks into a mirthless smirk.
“You’d think Deep Sky would do background checks on their employees, huh? A Manes man, getting all up in alien business? We all know how well that’s turned out in the last century or so.”

At the beginning of senior year, Michael Guerin gets captured and thrown into Caulfield. At the end of it, Jesse Manes lets his youngest son in on the family secret.
Fifteen years later, Alex Manes is working for Deep Sky when he’s assigned to protect one of its assets as he works on something with unknown consequences.
Neither of them is happy about it.

Michael has spent his whole life staring up at the sky, but Alex Manes’ smile is still the brightest thing he’s ever seen.

There’s less of Alex than there used to be.
Physically, yes, but the losses run so much deeper than that; the war stole far more from him than just his leg.
He manages to hide it fairly well, but Michael knows. The brightest parts of the boy he once loved have been scraped away, leaving him hollow and distant and a little cold, as if the fire inside him has gone out.
Or nearly has, anyway. An ember still burns, buried deep and almost swallowed in the dark, but Michael sees flashes of it in those moments when he’s tangled up with Alex, their clothes stripped away and pasts cast aside.
And Michael is determined to coax that ember back to life… if only he could figure out how to do the same for himself.

Summary
No one can run forever.
After Alex broke his contract with Michael's father, he and Michael have spent months exploring remote planets, places where no one would bother looking--and exploring their new, fragile relationship with each other. But those pursuing them aren't going to give up easily, and unless Michael and Alex find a way to trust each other entirely, with nothing held back, they don't stand a chance.

Summary
Alex could be doing a thousand other things with his one-week midseason break other than following Michael across the country like some kind of groupie, but every time Michael touches him, he can't remember a single one. After all these years, Alex can finally say he wants more than dark hotel rooms and stolen moments, but if he can't let himself reach for it, he may lose his chance forever.
