The two young men met online, and have become each other's confidants. Although life was never easy for them this is, and they become home.Dean still marvels at how there are two entirely separate, oxymoronic, somehow scary identities rattling around in his head. Jew. Ex-Jewish. Left the community. Off the Derech, otd. He would always be a Jew to Nazis, he would always call himself ethnically Jewish before mentioning his new family's Polish history, and yet he had pushed so hard to get away, that his Judaism would never be a religion to him. It was weird to some, but he had found others like him. Joined a support group, where they talk about being queer and having a Jewish family or being Jewish themselves. And he was healing, but Cas still needed a way out. At 17 it was still raw, but for Cas, it was bound to be so much worse.
