“Hey,” Killjoy said in a low voice. Something warm was pressed into her hands— her coffee. “Are you okay?”
“I think so,” Neon said. Lying. “Just, uh, off balance, I guess.” She swallowed hard. “You guys are all really close, huh?”
Killjoy smiled. Knowing, even still. There was nowhere to hide from these people.
“You get used to it,” she echoed. “It’s a weird little family here, but it’s ours.” She adjusted her glasses, gaze slanting back to Jett and Phoenix, who were still arguing. “It could be yours, too.”

Really warm introduction between Fade and Deadlock! Although it comes midway-point, I can't wait for Fade's "redemption" arc, the cliffhanger is killing me tho! (9/22/2026, 17/28)

It had been two months since Deadlock had joined the protocol. Two months since Brimstone didn’t kill her. Two months since she’d betrayed everything she stood for for a chance at a new life. But in order to begin a new life, one must end the one before.

Fade and Deadlock have tension they refuse to address, and it nearly gets them killed several times.
