It does work for Lan Wangji. The whole ordeal earns him a few things: a bite on the index finger of his left hand, a cancelled appointment to get his rabbit spayed, and the knowledge that Bichen, about a fortnight after the neighbour's rabbit dug himself into her enclosure, is indeed pregnant.

Summary
Lan Wangji and Wei Wuxian are forced to work together for one of their uni classes. It doesn’t go well, considering they seem to be each others’ polar opposite. But when memories from another life start bleeding into this one, fate seems to nudge them in each others’ direction.
Dealing with visions and dreams, while also trying to focus on finishing their studies, their rivalry slowly turns to friendship. And in their friendship they find something else.

Summary
For Lan Wangji, loving or being loved inevitably leads to grieving. He's seen it happen countless times.
When he's hit by a car and put into an induced coma for a few days, his mind wanders, and he gets the opportunity to revisit different periods of his life, and starts to reconsider his view on things.
In his coma, he hears the voice of the boy he once loved but thought he'd lost - though that might have been just a dream. Or was it?
Wei Wuxian volunteers at the hospital to reduce anxiety in child patients. One day, he meets a boy who's crying for his father. His day gets even weirder when Wei Wuxian meets the boy's uncle, who asks him for a special favour.

Summary
Lan Wangji and Wei Wuxian met as culinary school rivals, but quickly bonded over their shared love for cooking.
Now, Lan Wangji is the sous-chef at Gusu, a restaurant his family has owned for four generations. On paper, he has his future all figured out: honor the family legacy, rise through the ranks, and make Gusu the most sought-after spot in all of Beijing. Deep down, however, he is no longer sure if that’s what he wants.
Meanwhile, Wei Wuxian has sworn off cooking altogether, after an accident destroyed Lotus Pier, his adoptive family’s restaurant. Condemned as a chef, he disappeared three years ago.
