“Well,” you sing out as you continue alongside him. “If you had taken the seat of Emet-Selch, then perhaps you wouldn’t have to miss me.”
It takes him a moment to laugh at your tease, but laugh he does, and he shifts to give a playful bat of your shoulder as the pair of you round the corner to your unit. And it is only once you step up to the door, only once you slot the key into the lock, that you feel him crowd closer to you. Feel him press up behind you and chuckle softly against your ear in a way that makes the skin on the back of your neck prickle and lift for instantly you know…
You know what it is he intends to do with you, now that you are finally home…
And as if to confirm your suspicions, Hythlodaeus lets out a dark chuckle, settling his hands upon your shoulders and squeezing as you turn the key in the lock.
“No, no,” he begins. “You see, I will simply have to make up for all that I will be missing out on before you go…”
Azem leaves on another expedition on the morrow, and this time Hades comes with them... And Hythlodaeus intends to make up for all the time they won't see them in advance.

Summary
He closed his eyes, held the air in his lungs, and pictured the woman Azem from so long ago..
And then he opened his eyes, and looked at the reflection of the boy before him.
It wasn’t a perfect illusion, certainly, but by all that was good it was close enough.
With a thrilled sounding inhale through his teeth, Emet-Selch dipped towards Zenos. Shifted, to settle his hands on his shoulders and moved to draw in a slow breath.
Zenos, with his hair done up, is more similar to Azem than Emet-Selch has previously realised.
It's just a shame what this means for the boy.. Not that Emet-Selch himself particularly cares.Bookmarked by Hiker
